HR's Role In Culture Change - A GM's Perspective

Tony started his career with Coles Myer and at the age of 21 was managing 60 staff in various functions. After further roles in the building products and industrial marketing, Tony moved to Sharp Corporation and later to Parbury Building Products as their National Business Manager. This role gave Tony full P&L responsibility for his business unit and to have 2 sites report to him on the Gold Coast and on the central coast of NSW.

Tony started with Avery Dennison in 1998 as a Senior Brand Manager. Soon after, he assumed full responsibility of the marketing function. Within several years he was promoted to Sales & Marketing Director. For development purposes, Tony was sent to gain a better understanding of the manufacturing environment in Avery's sister division - Avery Materials Group based in Adelaide for twelve months. This role provided Tony with exposure to the operations side of the business. He then spent the early part of 2006 working throughout China and Hong Kong on Avery's marketing direction into Asia before appointed as General Manager of Avery Dennison Office Products Pty Ltd -Australia/New Zealand the same year.

Avery Dennison is a Fortune 500 market leader and a name synonymous with quality and product innovation. They manufacture a range of specialized products which are sold through a variety of channels and are market leaders in a number of categories. ANZ is the most profitable Office Products Division worldwide and manufacture 65% of products locally in Castle Hill.
