In total Tanja has 15 years HR experience.
The first 7 years was spent in South Africa, working for the Amalgamated Banks of South Africa (ABSA Bank – now part of Barclays Bank). In the 7 years Tanja held a number of roles that varied from People Capacity Planning and Talent Management Specialist, HR Generalist and towards the end of Tanja’s career, working on a number of special assignments for the bank, focussing on Centralisation of most corporate functions and establishing and building the Call Centre capability for Mortgages in Johannesburg.
In 2001 Tanja immigrated to Australia.
March 2002 Tanja joined Cuscal as a Snr HR Consultant, then moved on to the Senior Manager of People Management in 2005, to her most recent appointment as Head of People and Communication in 2008.
In the past 4 years, Tanja’s focus was to re-establish the HR function for Cuscal and implement a new people agenda for the business.
Achievements in the last 4 years were:
- Successfully implemented a culture transformation program
- Established a corporate leadership development strategy for all people leaders in the business
- Established an integrated health and wellbeing program
- Introduced a new performance and achievement program with 100% employee participation
- Established an employee engagement program, that includes a internal communication initiatives such as weekly staff news letter, people leader forums and all staff events – with the result of an Engagement score of 89
Late last year, Tanja’s team has been recognised by AHRI for a NSW state finalist for HR Impact, Most Effective HR department.

- Certificate in Change Management (Exec MBA program – AGSM)
