Joydeep is a Fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute. He holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Sydney, where he previously completed his Bachelor of Arts degree and Bachelor of Laws degree with Honours. As Staff Partner of Harmers he saw the firm win the Institute’s Award for Excellence in People Management in NSW. He was appointed Managing Partner in July 2006, since which time the firm has received the prestigious ALB Australasian Law Award for Employment Specialist Law Firm of the Year for three consecutive years. Joydeep was also listed as one of the "ALB HOT 40" lawyers in 2008 - recognised at the forefront of innovation and for outstanding performance in Australia/New Zealand for 2008.
A regular commentator in the media, Joydeep appears on Sky Business Channel on a fortnightly basis to discuss topical workplace relations matters and conducts the monthly web-based employment law program for cle.tv. Joydeep is also an Editorial Board member for CCH’s Employment and Safety publications, and author of the books Inside Employee Screening (CPD, 2001), Work Choices Q&A: The Top 50 (CCH, 2007), Managing Termination of Employment (CCH, 2007), and Finders Keepers: How to Attract and Retain Great Employees (CCH, 2008).
In addition to his advice to clients (which include some of Australia's largest corporations and high-profile media personalities) Joydeep regularly conducts management training sessions on workplace law topics for leading Australian businesses as well as prominent public sector employers. Joydeep presented at the Asia Pacific HR Summit in 2008 and has been invited to do so again this year.
